COMPETITION
POLICY FOR BLACKHEATH & BROMLEY HARRIERS AC
It is the policy of
Blackheath & Bromley to provide suitable and sufficient competition in all
disciplines of athletics for both sexes, all ages and all abilities.
Affiliations will be made to all necessary Associations and Leagues to meet this
policy, with the number of teams entered being determined by the number and
abilities of athletes.
The aim of the policy is not
only to provide and achieve the highest levels of competition, but also to
create a structured framework for the development of all athletes, and give
opportunities of competition to athletes of all abilities.

Development stage
of athlete ---------->
All athletes
All
athletes of the required standard will be encouraged and supported to enter
County, Territorial and National championships. A series of Club championship
meeting(s) will be held annually. Other competition opportunities, mainly for
Senior and U20 men, will be also arise in various Trophy competitions.
It is anticipated
that a reduced pressure on athletes (particularly the younger athletes) to
compete in league competition will provide an opportunity for club athletes to
attend more Open competition than has been possible in the past. In conjunction
with advice and guidance from coaches it is to be hoped that this will enable
athletes to fully develop their potential.
Cross Country and Road Relays:
Leagues,
currently the Kent Men's, Women's and YA League will be
entered to give cross country competition for all age groups and abilities. The
existing range of interclub matches would be maintained for additional
competition, mainly for Senior Men and Women. In addition, teams/individuals
will be entered for County, Territorial and National championships.
County,
Territorial and National Road Relay championships for all age groups of both
sexes will also be entered as numbers permit.
Invitations to
compete in track and field and cross country meetings in Europe will be
undertaken when they can be organised and funded.
Sportshall Athletics:
Kent
County A.A. Sportshall Athletics events will be entered for U11, U13 and U15
girls and boys. As many teams as required will be entered to ensure everyone
that wishes to take part will have that opportunity.
