Maryon Wilson 2002

Home Up

Last updated 6 March 2003

This year the Maryon Wilson Swimming Race was held at Crystal Palace Baths on Thursday 6 March 2003 - a good turnout of 15 swimmers and lots of spectators saw Nick Bunclark win in the good time of 26.6 seconds.  The handicap went to Darryl Hilliar one tenth of a second better than Nina Cooper and 1.5 seconds in front of Simon Tolson in third.

In 1893 Sir Spencer Maryon-Wilson presented the trophy to the Club for the encouragement of swimming. These days the event is normally held at Beckenham Baths over two lengths, however,  this year we have had to use Crystal Palace (assume it will be one length).  As well as the scratch race there is a handicap event.  All members are encouraged to take part; any style, change of stoke allowed - you don't even have to dive in!
