I just came 20th in the ICAN half iron triathlon in
Peguera in southern Mallorca……
Hey, I'm just back from racing the Ican triathlon,
which took place in the town of Peguera in the south of Mallorca on 29th
Sept. It is a fun race, quite low key, a little like races used to be like
in the UK 10-15 years ago (yes, yes....I know....I should know!!
ha....ha...)
Anyhow it turned into a duathlon, because high winds
forced the organisers (very sensibly) to cancel the swim, because of the
freak 2-3 metre waves, very unusual in this sheltered horseshoe shaped bay.
So we all did a run in place of the swim. For the Half
Ican they added a 10km run and for the Olympic a 5km.
That meant 31km of running for me....10km 90km bike
and another 21km run. The good bit was numbing our aches and pains at the
post race awards lunch party, with great food, Cava; red and white wine! I
can't remember getting free wine before, not even in Hawaii.
I finished 20th, and won the old boys race.
For the record I will organise accommodation and
transfers for this race next year, just let me know if you wish to race.

Great News!
Much better today than last weeks performance in European Championships
(6th).
I won my age group at the British Olympic Distance Champs this morning by 3
mins....22min swim 62min bike; followed by 39min run. Total 2hrs 06mins -
was 33rd overall.
If all the Blackheath boys doing the race had entered as Harriers we would
have won the team prize. Colin Norris went 7th overall and won his age group
with 1hr 58mins and his mate xxxxx????? Was close to 2 hrs too.
