2013 - British Masters Road Relay Championship - Sutton Park
The National masters road relays were held in Sutton
Park, Birmingham on Sat 18th May
This always proves to be a really enjoyable day out as
there is plenty to keep runners and spectators entertained.
BandBHAC managed to field complete teams in the M45
and M55 age groups, sadly there was not enough interest in the other men's
or any of the women's categories, pretty disappointing really for a club of
our size and reputation!
In a nutshell the M45 team finished in 1.51.43 in 15th
place out of 26 teams, not bad for a team whose average age is nearer 55
than 45.
Well done to Neil Ayrton, Mark Watling, Mark Ellison,
Steve Pairman, Andy Tucker and our fastest runner Roy Smith who ran 17.54
overtaking 14 teams on his leg!
The M55 team, who travelled to Birmingham with no
aspirations of medals had a really exciting race and managed to finish in a
very close 5th place out of 22 teams.
Con Griffin, Cliff Keen, Andy Lawes and our fastest
runner Tim Soutar (who ran 17.54 overtaking 9 teams) all ran excellent legs
to finish in 1.14.41 with only 52 seconds separating 2nd -7th place.
