2018 - World Masters T&F Championships, Malaga Spain
The World Masters Championships in Malaga have come to
an end and Helen Godsell has come back with 2 gold medals, a bronze medal
and a new world record competing in her last year in the Women's 60 - 64
year age group.
After timing 14.32s and 14.28s in the heat and semi
final of the 100m, she was disappointed with 14.79 in the final, placing her
4th losing out to a bronze medal by 0.002s.
In the 200m Helen was placed 3rd with a season's best
time of 29.93s.
On the final and hottest day of the championships
Helen was part of a very strong Great British team that won the 4 x100m
relay and set a new world record in 4 x 400m, improving their own record by
3 secs.
Other Blackheath and Bromley athletes at the
championships included Allan Williams in the M65 pole vault and our ever
present photographer Tom Phillips. Tom, although not competing, worked
harder than any of the athletes in the scorching heat.
The next outdoor World Master Championships will be in
Toronto, Canada in 2020.

Well done and thank you to everyone who took part on
Monday. Sadly, despite amazing efforts from the men we will be competing in
the 2nd division next year. The women came 3rd in the match and 4th overall
so will remain in the 1st division.
